Guest psy-fi
what i wonder is how do you arrang your basslines in cubase?? do you use a drummachine (vsti?) or how do you do it? i tried the drummachine that comes with sx but it sucks. i cant find out how to add vst-effects or load .wav, i guess you cant, but is there any other instrument that can?? or do one simply have to add a beat to in a track (in the main project), but then i´ll have to do the same thing with hi hats and such; alot of work. as i see it the simples way is to do a loop in reason and then import it to cubase, but then i wont be able to use the vst-effects. ????! PLEASE HELP !???? ///Psy-fi
shpongled
You can use VST/DirectX plug-inns in all audio (.wav) tracks and you can also use them to all VST-instruments. Best way to build drum patterns in Cubase is to use some VSTi sampler like Battery or Kontakt. Btw... bassline does not mean kick drums.......... bassline is er... well.. bassguitarline. Guest coriolis
battery is great, kontakt is really, really great. either one used with a newer vst-enabled sequencer is great, since you can assign different samples or sample groups to mulltiple VST outputs, which is CRUCIAL - you send your kick drum to one channel, your hats to another, your accent percussion to another, and so on - each with its own mix settings and effects chains. i don't use cubase but steinberg being the inventors of VST i assume you can do this. i use logic 5.3 platinum and it kicks ass in combo with kontakt. kontakt also allows for internal FX chains, eqs, envelopes, filters and so on which makes it many steps up from battery. once i got kontakt i became completely dependent on it for nearly all of my percussion. ...but BASSLINES are not really battery or kontakt's territory. you'll need a vst synth for that. i can't recommend any since i don't use vst synths for bass, other than reaktor 3 which will do the job, and will do a whole more on top of that!
