ok. this might seem like an incredible stupid question....

one thing has always bothered me (well not always, but for a rather long time) and it is the pitch wheel on synths. why does it always go back to "pitch 0" when you use it?? what if i get a sound wich sound best at say pitch -7, then that damn wheel will go back again as soon as you release it! and it is this way with all synths, keyboars that are made, even the soft-synths. so i guess this is the best way to have it, but i dont understand why! please enlighten me!!!

: )

lol yeah...

if you like the sound with your pitch-wheel all the way up or down...... simply let go of the pitch-wheel and press the note above or below that one you were pressing before...

moving the pitch-wheel all the way up or down on most synths will simply go up or down a note.

ok, ok....so i take it it was the most stupid question in the music-creation section...but hey, someone has to ask those question and i proudly take on that responebility.

i have never owned a "real" synth so....oh well hope you got a good laugh anyways : )

no questions are stupid psy-fi.... we all have to start somewhere.....I would have loved to have a forum to go to when I started to play around with synths in 1980.

the pitch wheel, along with the pan control, are the only two midi controllers that have a center position as the reset values (i.e. they don't reset to the lowest value). covet them! all the other controllers act the normal way, so why not let two behave differently? its useful. in this day and age of assigning any incoming midi data to any patch parameter, these center-based controllers are actually really nice, since you can start from a center value and move up or down, versus starting from zero and only moving up.
