Well, my new track is up and running,

i'd appreciate any criticisms or opinions as to its general merits and downfalls.

the address is:

http://www.mp3.com/psy-a-nide

and the song is strange fruit.

Anyone who can tell what programs i used to write this in gets a 'gold star'. Elysium and elysium bashers, are you out there??

cheers in advance.

Well - I'll tell you the synth when people have guessed what it was written in first!!!!

As for compression, the kick and bass have a LOT of hard compression, so they sit up nicely, and i can get a multi layered bass by some hard EQ chiselling. Ummmm... apart from that I think just some subtle Comping ohhh, and the first synth line that starts out as a rythmic thing and morphs into a resonant beast was compressed hard, but not hard enough i reckon.

Then a very subtle compression over the whole mix, barely noticable really, to make everything gel a bit more.

Cheers for the feedback!

I dig it. Do think it could stand a little bit more of something in the upper registers as it is almost entirely low end, but I like the track itself. As for the program used, I'm gonna say Fruityloops. Don't ask me why, its just a feeling (and probably a wrong one too but).

decent track. a little lack luster, and empty in terms of rhythms though man. it wasn't until about the 6 minute mark, that your track stood up and made me pay attention. good production overall. the bassline could use a little beefening since there aren't any really rhythms to help it along.

Okay cheers guys...

Trust me.... The bass line is FAT, but is very low, so it only works on nice speakers and not MP3!!!!

Well. As for tools, and i notice a distinct lack of people daring to guess...

congrats to Jikkenteki who is PARTLY right.

:)

Anyhows, I am pleased that the feedback is constructive and positive, even when (fairly) criticising. I can say that the synth at 6.1 (fugelpitch) was done on the demo version of the wasp in fruityloops.

And yeah, i think remastering is a definate possibility, as well as remixing, some of the levels are NOT right. But everything i do is work in progress

:)

cheers guys and galls.

peace

Imma have to go with fruity loops too. It sounds ok, but i think some parts need some different eqing. and maybe ease up on the compression, a few of the sounds soudn way too compressed. i was thinking it'd need a nice pad or string over most of it to keep it from getting too repetitive.

Some sounds are a little to loud and the bassline alittle to low like at 4:00 ..

thebassline needs to be higher or it drowns amongs all the other sounds ..

even the kick drowns sometimes .. (5:50)... Production is good but there are some clicks (or maby my connection is making it ??) ...

cool track anyway ;) ... this is just my thoughts ;)

Fruityloops and mastered in SoundForge 4.5 ??? hehehe
