I started my recording arts degree today at Full Sail Education. This school seems great, and everyone just seemed like well... me. Just curious if anyone in the US, on these forums ,when to this school? It's in Orlando, Florida. I even met a guy who lives in the town over from me back at home, chicago. Pretty cool.

I've been looking into this program myself, actually. How is it? How much is tuition? How old are you? I'm 23, and wondering if I'm a bit on the old side...

Transl! Thanks for replying! Well, i just have had my orientation so far. I start class on Monday, but i'll tell ya... From what i've learned and the atmosphere i've felt from this school is amazing. I'm gonna love it and i'm learn so much about what I love most. Tuition is sorta high... 27 grand for a year, but i guess they have a 80% placement record so if you do good and keep up on your work, you basically have a job when you walk out the door, or soon after. I'm only 19, and i feel sorta young, so i wouldn't let that bother you. The average is about 21 i'm thinking. You'll see 35 year old guys partnered up with 20 year olds. You're in the perfect age range, if you ask me. Even, just come to take a tour or something, then youll notice the tuition is not high at all for what you'll be working with. You should see this gear man! Eye boggling! I'll keep you informed if you want, once i actually get involved with the classes. Orlando's real nice too... A bit hot during the day. But that's why we have air conditioning. I'll post back here mid week!

i have a friend who did the program there. he is fond of it but is still looking for a job - not many studios are hiring. if i were going to consider it, i'd talk to a diverse set of professionals in the field and see if a full sail degree is really gonna land you a job, and really gonna be worth the very LARGE cost. i've heard that studios are VERY difficult to get hired into, and even trained graduates end up being the janitors. but this is heresay - find out for yourself and talk to some studio owners and producers and so on.

i was thinking of taking the course too...opted for a paramedic college since

$30000US plus living arrangements is out of my budget

i read their info tho...said they recorded w/ backstreet boys, madona, michael jackson, etc. So im sure that you will learn a lot :)

dont they also offer music for media and video games beside the studio recording???

anyways, good luck in the course :)

another school to look into is in Canada that offers 'interships' in studios beside their own if you have 80-85% or higher. They have 2 school, one ouside toronto and one in old montreal i think. Their website is www.recordingarts.com

peace

Yes ether... That's what i plan on doing... Sound Design for movies. I dont plan on sitting in a recording studio all day, i'd like to work for a movie company setting up their sound effects and foleys', and also hope to do some video game sounds as well. Regardless of the price, ill learn alot of stuff which will make me feel better, and help me to improve my own sound as a musician/producer. We'll see what happens in a year!

plus... a degree that says "Full sail" on it, gives me a better chance than just someone who just says they are good. I'll have a degree that says that for me.
