Guest Entity
Ok this must be a simple trick that eludes me. I want to take the tempo of a track in Cubase VST 5 (store bought) and change the tempo a few times durring the song. I would like to do this live so I can hear the tempo change. How can I do this? I have the "getting started" manual and looked up "tempo", no luck. I don't even know what to look up if it is in the book. Any help will be apreciated. thank you
Guest Mike Indidginus
It's not necessarily as simple as you might think. You need Master on the transport bar switched on for tempo changes to be picked up. These can be drawn in in the graphical mastertrack or entered in the list master track. If all your parts in the track are MIDI, this will sound fine. If you've got a mix of MIDI & audio then only the MIDI will tempo change because the audio segments are fixed. There is a way around this. Recycle. Recycle any audio parts you have, import the REX file into Cubase, & then the audio segments will adjust accordingly as the tempo changes (make sure that all the Q points are lined up appropriately). Hope that helps PS I have noticed that the "Getting Started" manual near enough expects you to be an expert before you "get started". Funny man. The guys who write manuals seem to think you know everything they do.
Guest Mike Indidginus
The part about audio is only strictly true for long audio segments that stretch over a bar or more. For example single hits of a kick drum or snare will be fine, but if you have a 4 bar drum loop audio segment this won't be. You'll have to recycle that for the tempo changes to have any effect.
