Guest coriolis
does anyone know of a wrapper to use a DXi softsynth with a VST 2.0 host, like logic? Everyone is going nutty over the wrappers that allow the use of VST plugins in a DX host (sonar) - but nobody seems to be talking about the opposite, which would seem so obviously useful to me. its so frustrating to search "vst dx wrapper" and find only wrappers for VST plugins in DX hosts and not the other way around. maybe its technically impossible? (my goal is to use dreamstation DXi in logic 5.3) please help! many thanks
Guest etherdesign
It's not technically impossible, but one simply does not exist right now.. The majority of plugins are released VSTi only and then some are released as VSTi and DXi.. there are only 3-4 synths right now that are DXi only, so such a wrapper would hardly be worth some coder's time.. Sorry but you're out of luck for now.. and Logic won't be supporting DX at all since Apple bought Emagic and they won't be releasing any major upgrades(?) like that for the PC version of Logic. Guest random
dreamstation is buggy as hell anyways, it often clicks and pops for no reasons, sometimes it just doesn't open at all, presets get lost.... Stick with Native Instrument and Sonic Syndicate (now Synapse Audio) stuff, they're solid and fast and cover the range of anything you can cook up with DreamStation. Guest etherdesign
Yeah, I'm not sure why you'd really wanna use dreamstation anyways, the sound quality of newer synths is far better.. the only thing that makes it kind of unique is the formant filter, if that's why you're using it there are several other VST synths with formant filters: Native Instruments Reaktor (of course), VirSyn Tera, Big Tick Angelina, MHC Voxsynth, reFX PlastiCZ!, rgcAudio Pentagon I, and VAZ Modular.. Guest coriolis
i tried dreamstation a few years ago and thought it sounded smooth, with this nice kind of liquidness. i just thought it would be nice to throw into some tracks. but, no big deal i guess. thanks for the info everyone!
