Guest Lunar
One questions about these synths...you can play "live" (by live i mean connect a pair of headphones and just play) 4 sounds at once...but you can play 16 channels in midi...if you want to play "live" with 16 sounds you have to do multiprograms (in this case 4 multis 4*4=16 channels)..now to my question: to play 16 channels in midi, do i have to make multis just like when playing "live"?? or can i play with 16 sounds in midi without making multis (so i just use single programs)?? i have a waldrof Q but never used it with midi and also i want to know about the virus snice i am thinking of getting one... Thanx Lunar

Guest niu
i've never played any of the synths u mencioned.... but, in general, to play the differnt parts of a synth u only have to adjust the recieve midi channel and the program (not necessary because u can change it whith a midi program change message) for each part (read the manual). peace! Guest random
Computer [ IN ] -> [Waldorf Q OUT] [OUT] -> [Waldorf Q IN] Waldorf Q [ IN ] -> [CPU OUT] [OUT] -> [CPU IN] [THRU] -> [Virus IN] Virus [ IN ] -> [Waldorf Q THRU] [THRU] -> On to other midi gear... Set the Q to receive on channels 1 to 8 and the Virus on 9 to 16. Then just send midi data on the coressponding channels to play that particular instrument. Most synths have two modes, Poly and Multi. In poly mode you're restricted to 1 part of multitimbrality but you get the full machine's power behind it. In Multi mode you usually get 16 parts multitimbrality and share the fx processors (although in really neat gizmos, you also sometimes get 16 parts and each part its separate fx processors, I think that might be the case for the VirusC).
