Guest Zen
Yes sure, with plugins like "Waves" or "Timeworks" that you can open in the Cool Edit per exemple: "transform--->direct X----> mastering compressors, eq's, ect..."! But before, please read some articles on "how to start to make good mastering" on the net, per exemple on: http://www.studiocovers.com/articles9.htm and second: get a good soundcard, a good pair of ears , a good pair of speakers, and be patient! Guest coriolis
the newer versions of cool edit have mastering tools built in that are of some use. they are not as nice as the waves plugins but they come with the program. you can do multi-band dynamics processing, eq in many ways (parametric, FFT, etc), loudness maximizing (brick-wall limiting), and most all the essential things you'd need. the multi-band dynamics is sort of difficult to use so i'd suggest a more developed product such as the waves plugins, but if your strapped for $$ then you'll figure out a way to make them work
