How does this sound for a goa/psy studio?

TB-303 Or Reasonable Facimile Thereof (I'm thinkin a Teebee if I can find one)

Juno 106 or Alpha Juno 2 (Not really sure which to go with here.)

Yamaha RM-50 (This is the best drum machine I've found in a loong time. This thing works wonders for me.)

I dont know what equalizer to get. I need anything with at least 7 channels, what's good out there?

As far as computer goes, my music-dedicated PC is a 450mhz pentium 2, 96 megs of ram. Newest version of Fruityloops installed on it, same goes for Logic.

I'm planning on mostly using the Juno (whichever one I end up getting) for pads, and probably also bass. The 303 clone should serve for some nice psychadelic lead lines, with some VST plugins I've got doing the rest of the psychadelics.

Does that sound good? Which of the juno would you recomend?

If you have FruityLoops, you don't need a drum machine. Buying analog gear like 303/Juno is up to you, but there are pretty darn good reproductions of those in software.

i would save the money you are planning to spend on all of the mentioned gear and spend it on a new computer... acquire some software for evalution and you will be kept busy for quite a while :) a controller keyboard, pro soundcard (www.m-audio.com) or set of nice monitors would be a good first purchase though towards building a studio...

dump the 303 (and similar products, it's old, boring and we've all heard it a few hundred thousand million times before....

dump the Juno, who cares for a monotimbral 6-voices-polyphonic noisy simplistic entry level synth that'll cost you as much as a more recent and more powerful machine.

Drop the drum machine.. believe me.. you don't compose goa drums on a 16step sequencer where the fastest roll can't be shorter than 1/4th.

450mhz with 96mb ram? Drop that too.. get some money and get a real computer like

XP2100+

1gb RAM

80mb HD

M-Audio Delta 410 (or 1010) soundcard

USB Midi Controller (M-Audio has nice ones)

Get some monitors, a mix desk and you're set.

Hmm. You told me a lot of synths to drop, and not what to pick up instead... which sorta leaves me with no idea WHAT to get. =p

I was thinking a nord modular, for one. I'd also go with a virus... but that's a bit out of price range right now.

he jjjust likes shitty soft synths...get the juno106, get a novation bass station rack, and an sh101(you can control 101 via bass station), drop the dru mmachine, samples are better, invest that money ina better cpu+ sound card and get a midi conroller and you're in there like peanut butter gym wear...

don't believe these sfot synths monkeys, juno106 and sh101 and bass staiton sound sooo much better than software, only one thing sounds like analog...analog...mmm...the filter is so wonderful :) ...that's hwy old goa sounds so much better. and why good acts own analogs. and why hallucinogne and cosmosis own so much...;D...

But samples are best for drums...and a newsound card will be neccessary for recordings... oh yea buy an 8 chan mixer : ) a little behringer one for like $100... it'd be a nice set up not too expensive, and you'l get all the sounds you need...

YOU DONT need complex sounds, i haven't herad ac omplex sound in goa...in years...if i've even heard one...it's all fx proccessing and in the melodies. and the sequences rarely in a super complex sound...

usually sounds get complex cuz they have to be made complex on soft synth to get good...

This poses a problem, you see.

I already own the drum machine, it was bought a LONG time ago. And the Pentium II PC is being given to me free - it's hard for me to turn it down, I'm a college student short on money. So I've gotta go with those, for now.

I'm probably gonna get me a Bassstation rack asap.

As for the Juno, a friend of mine is telling me he's got a juno emulator softsynth - I doubt it's as good, but I'll at least hear it out first, then get me a 106.

The SH101 can come later when the cashflow improves a little. I have roughly 500 american dollars to spend on upgrading my studio right now, that will eventually go up.
