Guest sporadik
What would you say is your ratio of premeditated vs. chaotic effects? In other words, do you mostly; a) know what kind of sound you want, and end up with pretty much exactly what you were looking for Try to add various effects without really being sure what you want... extracting your creativity from the process, if you will. Obviously, the pros out there would be more inclined to choose (a), but random creation must still play a partial role? As for those less accomplished (at least so far)... fess up! How much credit do you owe to chance? btw- I just started playing around with this stuff, so about 95% of the sounds I get are through method ( ;-)
Guest schism
usually A but i have some modular gear so most of the external processing via that (instead of digital fx boxes i.e. eventide or lexicon) lead themself to random/chaotic incidents so in that case B. i'd say its about 65%/35% obviously part B is a lot more fun )) happy accidents is what i call them! Guest phlux0r
Well, I think A) comes from really knowing your gear/software and the process very well so you know _how_ to get what you want. seems more part of an overall learning curve where you become familiar with your gear and by exprimentation see what you can get out of it. Both way are fun I guess because, with A) you can spend more time on getting other parts of your production process right... and with you get that surprise factor, or as schism put it happy accidents ... I think a healthy combination of both is good.
