Guest r2d2
I noticed there this wierd noise comming out of my system. It is noticable when I don'd play any music and turn the volume up. The weird thing is it kind of comes and goes. In other words sometimes I hear it and sometimes I don't. The sound of noise kind of reminds me of electrical current. Even though I don't know the exact problem I'm pretty sure it has something to do with my mixer. When I turn my mixer off and leave the amplifier on I don't hear noise any more. I also noticed when I turn my mixer's master output up (without any music being played) the noise also gets louder. The weirdest thing is that it's not constant noise. I can hear it for few minutes then it goes away, then comes back again and so on. I checked the cables and they seem to be OK. Please help! Thanks in advance
Guest Andreas of Amygdala
My guess is, that you have an instruments hooked up to your mixer that makes the noise. When the noise is there, are all your channels muted or turned all the way down...? If so - it must be the mixer. But I haven't heard any mixers go anything but "hssssss". The noise your describe probably comes from some digital synth plugged to the mixer - I don't know what kind of noises a soundcard makes, but analog synthesizers tend to have a constant noise - depending on what effect you are using (the Juno-106's chorus for example, that makes the hell of a lot of noise, but not completely constant...) My guess is a digital synth, since I had the same problem with my Waldorf microwave XT. If this is the case, just make sure you get the optimal output from that particular synth, so you don't have to gain so much. Or try a new OS Hope this helps! Guest alccode
Andreas of Amygdala is completely wrong. Your problem is quite simply that aliens have taken up permanent residence in your computer. I don't know how to help you... unless you have interdimensional exorcist powers, I think you're quite screwed.
