try the TS-404 with some overdrive VST Fx like blood overdrive... tweak the ts to give u an edgy sound (square waves) and squeak the blood overdrive

Hey, I have managed to get some really wicked sounding distorted synths from using my yamaha dx200 synth. It uses fm synthesis which is really grungy sounding. Also the Hydra and Junglist Vst synths from Synapse Audio for the Orion Pro/Platnum software synths are totally kick ass. They have distortion built into them but if that's not enough you can always add extra through the virtual mixer or effects section. Check out some examples of these instruments at my web page.
