Guest Jeroen Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 Hi, For quite a while now I've had Soundforge 6.0 on my computer, said to be a good and valuable music tool. But, I don't use it :s. I haven't used it much, i see a lot of options but i don't get the impression they're that much use! In short, I really haven't got ANY idea at all what to do with soundforge..If anyone could just in a few lines write something they do with soundforge, that would already be of help to me Thanks a lot! Jeroen. Quote
Guest PiNG Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 I [try to] masterize my tracks in soundforge, using tools like multi-band compression and wave-hammer and normalization... if you go to infected site you'll see a tutorial on how to create kicks in soundforge... it has also some nice filters like Gapper/Snipper it can help if you create your own FX and noizes... Guest tetsuo Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 go to the synthesis bit and make a sound n then add fx n stuff to the sound and add a sample loop n uve made urself a new synth sound/ effect to use in your tracks... or open existing wav files and play around with them... also you can extract audio from cd's and mess with that as well... its a fantastic bit of software once you get ure head round it... Guest triplex Posted August 31, 2003 Posted August 31, 2003 Wave editors are the A and Z of music making. Of course it is possible to completely avoid their use if you are composing music only with MIDI and synths. But if you want to use samples then wave editor is for samples what photoshop or paint is for images. So, unless you want to use your samples as you took them from your CDs, downloaded from the net or sampled them from nature etc, then a wave editor's use is essential. But also if you cannot find any use for it, yet, do not press yourself 'discovering' any uses. It might come naturally after some weeks/months/years. njoy Quote
Guest Fluo_Samsara Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 As Photoshop is for images, Soundforge is for sound You can use it for pos-production, you can use it to edit sound files (for example if you want to extract a sentence from a movie), you can use it to record sound, you can use it for effects like phaser, delay, etc etc, you can use it to create sounds with its sinths, many people create teyr kicks with the fm sinthethys, well... theres an infinity amount of things you can use it for, just open a sound file there and try it out!
