Guest radhasonic Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 hi id like to see comments about how do you get the good full-on bass. Do you use an specific synth? or use ABSynth? Soundforge (as in the Infected site for kicks? or the fat bass you listen in fullon tracks is just a compressor result? I use other kind of bass for my tracks, but Id like to experiment with other kind of bass. Id preciate good comments please. In Lake'ch Quote
Guest Clone Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 Try Pro53 (Native Instruments VSTI) it is exelent for creating basslines, and making trance at all Quote
Guest PiNG Posted August 30, 2003 Posted August 30, 2003 also try TS 404 if you make 16th note basses pay attention to envelope / cutoff / tipe of wav [sine / sqr / etc] it can change the whole feel you can make a good bass out of anything some basses only sound good with some kicks other need some Compress & EQ try Native Instruments Pro52 or PPG Wave 2 from waldorf its also nice Quote
Guest Andreas of Amygdala Posted September 1, 2003 Posted September 1, 2003 I just discovered how much stereo means for bass (and it's about time!!). Although bass is not very easy to "locate" in terms of left/right, it really pays to have the channels out of sync, or use a true stereo effect. Although the bass-sound doesn't change very much, it really drives the entire mix forward, when the bass in left and right are slightly different - but don't make them too different, mind you .oO Andreas Oo. Guest ATMA & R-TUR Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 There is also a good soft synth for basslines "Iblit" . U can make a really fat bassline. I dunno what to say about PRO 53... his sound is a little bit to dry for basslines, but you can make some nice leads with it. Try also Oditty soft synth for basslines and . U can use a light Chorus on basslines or a light Alt. Panning. If you use Iblit (bassline), use also an Eq on it and try to amlify with aprox: +2 db (40-200hz) and (1500-10.000 hz) -1.5 db (200 - 1000 Hz) Try also to find a good Bass Drum. Becose the secret of mastering is in how we choose the instruments. And most importants are the drums and than the bassline. I work since 8 years in Trance music production and mastering and still i didn't find a really good Bd ..hehe..Maybe i will never find the perfect one. I really like the Aliens Project BD used in "The Ring" and the BD from "Unlimited" - Logic bomb The last one can be sampled from the song...but if you do that do not use any compression on it becouse this is already compresed. U can have a good bassline..but without a good Bd the track will sound like shit. But first of all u need really good Monitors and External Compresor, StereoImager, Surrownd Processor...... And all this costs a lot... Boom Shankar !! Quote
Guest Triplex Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 Andreas your advice is good but keep in mind that constructive and destructive interfearence might occur when the low frequencies start overlapping on the mono-image of your stereo bass. The song should be playable in MONO systems as well. Some artists say that kick and bass SHOULD be MONO in order to be able to as powerful as possible. Of course you could add a bit of stereo reverb on the kick later on, just to give some pressence of the sound in space. see ya Quote
Guest soliptic Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 Triplex, true this is why i make extensive use of multi-channering for kicks and bass - lowpass, subbass elements can be kept mono, whereas carefully hipassed (or at least low-shelved) channels have a bit more width / fx on them for a fuller sound without the risk Quote
Guest radhasonic Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 thankyou very much for the tips, really!!! in lacke'ch Quote
