Guest PiNG Posted September 2, 2003 Posted September 2, 2003 Hey what vst's are apropriate to make that leads like 'alien project - dna' or the intro of 'dynamic - alien connection', and what are appropriate to make leads like skazi? i was told that kontakt was good, and synth1 was good too, i am still learning to work with those, but i do not unerstand anything of kontakt! does it work with ADSR envelopes and filters and LFO?? where can i learn to work with kontakt?? plz help me tks Quote
Guest soliptic Posted September 2, 2003 Posted September 2, 2003 kontakt is a sampler, not a synth obviously u can use it for synth lines also, but u will find it works somewhat different to synths. Quote
Guest PiNG Posted September 2, 2003 Posted September 2, 2003 hmmm i see, kontakt only let me load samples... i was told it was a synth.. for some minutes I felt reall stupid, well i was right anyway can u give me tips about nice synths that can [somewhat] easily recriate those sounds I said above?? I tried synth1 but i am still learning how to use it properly... thnks ppl Quote
Guest soliptic Posted September 2, 2003 Posted September 2, 2003 Well... a sampler can act like a synth. It has filters, fx, and full modulation capabilities like any synth ... the only difference really is that instead of starting from primitive waveforms (saw, sine, etc) it starts with samples. For a description of how to use kontakt as a synth you might want to read this: http://www.ektoplazm.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=1411 I'm afraid I dont know either the tracks you mention so its hard to recommend a specific synth. However, synth1 is great and I use it all the time - other ones worth trying are V-Station (also your basic virtual analog model of synthesis, it has a warmer, silkier sound that the synth1), and z3ta (which has some funky waveshaping stuff added to it - I dont pretend to understand this, all I know is that it means you can make noises with it which you cant make with a standard v.a) Quote
