Hey all

I am busy saving up some money which l intend to spend on certain audio equip ....ie monitors. I will be using cubase and reason mostly to produce psychedellic trance and l am not sure which are the best monitors suited to this. My price range will probably be around 400-500 £ . Any advice that you could give woiuld be much appreciated.

Many thanx

Adam

best monitors i know are mackie hr-824s -- these are about £1200 tho.

no monitors are particularly suited to psy more than anything else... just get down the shop with your budget in mind and a bunch of well-produced cds which you know backwards in your hand... ask to try em out and by the ones u like the sound of best

the best equipment is the one you know how to use and take advantage of. go to a shop see what`s there and what suits to your budget, and what your home equipment is, if you don`t own a good pc with a good soundcard no monitor will suit. people guides a lot on certain models thinking equipment do miracles and no. believe me i`m a sound engineer.

Your sound system will sound as bad as the weakest link plus the added effect of each bad link.

So yes, PCs, soundcards, amps, everything will have an effect. However speakers still ARE the worst link by far. You cannot get distortion figures below 5% in those and there are spks with all sort of results, whether in the other components anything above 0.5% is quite gross.

Isn´t it significative that speakers manufacturers dont publish distortion figures?.

Then go and search, the above means that ANY speaker will add much coloration to the sound, you just have to find the one you like most and fits to your budget.

Enjoy
