Direct hook up to computer

HEY

I am looking for a device that will allow me to hook up my guitar/bass/drum machine/mics straight to my computer's line-in and mic-in with little or no unwanted sounds. More so I am looking for a guitar direct line hook up. You see when I record my guitar no matter what I do the sound comes out shhh-T. I have used mics in various positions, pre-amp/speaker out on the amplifier also direct plug-in from the guitars output to the line-in and mic-in. NOTHING WORKS. The best sound is when I mic the amp. The problem with this is that I get unwanted outside sounds. I usually do playback recording and I hate wearing headphones as it is hard to hear and judge both sources of sound.

I finally decided that it is time to do something about this problem. That is where you guys/gals come in. You see I am unsure of what to get. Right now I am looking at several products from Behringer. I looked at the DI boxes and the are pretty good but I need a mixer to go along with it. So I am thinking of a basic mixer along the lines of the Eurorack UB 1202 or 1204. Lastly was a Tube Ultragain Mic100 which is cheaper but I am not sure if it will do the job.

All in all I would like to just get a mixer that I can directly hook my guitar and amplifier to and then line the mixer to my soundcard input with no sound impedance. But I may have to spring for a DI box. What i really want to know is if the mixer on its own will "satisfy my soul".

If you have any suggestions on what will do the job i would appreciate your feedback. I hope all of the info makes sense above. Oh yeah if it helps I am running through a Soundblaster Creative Live soundcard.

Thanks a bunch

your noise exists because of the interference with the monitor; try to turn off the monitor or play yuor guitar as far as possible from the monitor; the best way to get a good guitar sound is miking a good amp -> you plug your guitar with your favorite amp and then mike it and connect the mike to your sound card, or if you want to go serious you can always get a nice sound card and a mixer table like a mackie or so; anyway if you can try off coolEdit or CoolEditPro you'll notice a noise reduction filter that has a patch called '60Hz gutiar cycle' thats meant to eliminate that characteristic buzz of the guitar...

hope that helped
