Guest Omar Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 Actually you could get by with an integrated soundcard on the motherboard if u got the right AC'97 CODEC onboard. AD Soundmax for example has full support for 24/96K Sound. If u aim to make tracks in CD quality loads of Regular AC'97 CODEC would suffice. For example on This Motherboard I have now there is a 20-bit Codec. So its dynamic range is probably better than the SNR anyway. The SNR (Signal-to-Noise-Ratio) is probably the biggest problem with onboard sound. It plagues regular soundcards too, but they are designed with this in mind (the good soundcards that is). The LynxTwo is a fine example of how a Soundcard should be made. www.asio2ks.de - Free ASIO driver for all sorts of cards as long as they have a WDM driver (Windows XP drivers are WDM) The best soundcards on a budget are probably M-Audio and Terratec, if u need balanced in/out Echo cards are available. Balanced inputs and outputs are not needed unless u use long cables (long as in really long, not 5meters), or have problem with RFI (Radio-Frequency Interference). Quote
