Guest ritual om
i have made a track the last 5 months but i am very dissapointed because of the mastering in it. i have put in the master channel of fruityloops(the track is made with fruity loops and reason) EQ and a compressor, both from the fruity stable:) at first i said:yeah it's good but after burning it and hearing it in delicate monitors i said fuck me,this ain't true. after one month of total oblivion, i wish to give it another try cause it's worth it. can u give me any suggestions(software, methods etc) in order to fullfil my expectations? thanx in advance
Guest danne
hello, first of all listen to the mix and try to find out what you need to do! Do you need to eq? Why? and do you need to compress? why?... If you feel think that some freq. are to hi try and cut them down a bit to ger rid of mud etc... if you want to cream out a few extra db, add some punch in the mix use a compressor. You can also use a maximizer (waves L2 is good) if you know how tu use it (its not complicated).... The thing you need to do first is listen and listen.. Whan you know what is wrong try and correct it with the right thing ex eq etc..... Try this link http://www.amazing-demo.com/Articles/mastering.html here you can read alot about mastering....... goog luck! danne
Guest ben
what kind of monitors do u have?? cause if u don't have good ones that may be part of your problem. The other thing is that u should try to Eq sounds separately, compress them individually too if necessary. Then u can also put a compressor on the master channel. i used to have the same problems when i used reason and some pc speakers. It would sound kinda ok on my computer but when i burned a track and took it somewhere else it sounded real bad. Then i switched to Logic and bought some decent monitors and i can tell u it makes a big difference. So don't give up and think about getting into logic or cubase, it is worth the effort

Guest BeaSingha
Try out Soundforge to for mastering ... there is a lot of plugins for that one ..
Guest Darius
The monitors are very important. I recomand you Behinger activ monitors. Those are very good and cheap for only 300-400 Eu. If you use Fruity Loops try to export every track separated and then make the final mastering in others software like Cubase, Nuendo and if you don't have a powerful Pc try soft's like Acid Pro or Samplitude. If the sofware has a Mixer section it will be more easy to make the mastering that's why i recomand you Samplitude. It don't recomand you to use Fruity loops mastering plug-ins they suxx. I know the guy's from ATMA & R-TUR and they made they new album with Fruity Loops, the final mastering with Samplitude. But they also used an external Behringer Mastering rack and good monitors. And in the end they sounds just like Logic Bomb or other big name. Anyway. Many artist make the final masterings in big studios with proffesional sound engineers. And most of the Israely artists make the masterings at AP studio with Lior Perlmutter. That's why their sound is so good. Good Luck
