Guest marc
I am also experimenting with Psy basses, but it is not easy. What is the best (VST) instrument to do it, on what interval do you play (1/16th notes with a 1/32th length), eq, etc?. The basses I hear from professional artists are deep, short and great sounding in the mix. Anyone on this forum succeed in reproducing those Psy basses? Progressive basses are more easy to create in my opinion. Anyone has an (Cubase) example? Regards, Marc
Guest X-OR
You could try the Native Instruments Pro-53... It is a VERY good VA General Purpose synth... it is all about ADSR, EQ and Compression Try the Res Bass preset on that synth and tweak it Or you can mod and EQ a 303 to almost sound the same. There is also a new SH-101 clone VSTi out there too.
Guest marc
Did you create those well known basslines yourself by using these synths? Regards, Marc
Guest ben
i would say best vst are : -Tao Pro -VB-l -Tritium bass plug-in those are good, Eq is very important,, but i am learning myself. Guest Dagas
for fast basses i like to use reason.. its easier with the matrix to make a crazy pattern and change it, use the substractor and use a saw wave, fast attack. Set the eq to roll off where the kick drums starts so both freqs dont collide and sound mushy. Also add a Compressor with fast attack to the substractor. for deep basses the A1 synth that comes with cubase sounds great. you can also add more bass with a plugin like the RBASS waves plugin. Guest ATMA
- Try VB 1. It is the best. And it is free. Many artists are using it like Astrix, Safi Connection... But the BassDrum is also very important. It is not enough to have a good bassline synth without a good BD. If the Bd is too low you will get distortions or if it is too high te track will have no dinamixx. If you use a Vb 1, you will hear a little click on each note you play. But try to use a CHH on each 16'th note the click will be no longer audible. Your bassline will sound perfect. Don't forget about the eq and compresion. You can use also a Chorus an the bassline but it is important to make the right setings. If you need more hints about mastering mail me at: atma@shpongle.com and i will give you some more detailed infos. boom !
Guest Marc
Thanks much for your information. Atma, do you mean a Closed Hihat on every 16th? But sometimes you want only to play a kick. Is it not possible to do something with a gate or compressor to avoid those clicks (attack time). Regards, Marc
