Hi,

It is possible to use reason live a few ways, 1 if your tunes are the same bpm, open both reason files, if you have dual monitor setup its easier.. set the bpms the same, get both tunes to loop. Press Play on the one u want to bring in and nudge it in time with the other (make sure its muted) then use the mixer to bring the elements in etc..

Or more effective, use ableton live 2? (is 3 out now).. Its a bit of a bugger to get used to but very good. Reason comes through it and you can record loops in realtime, then switch tunes in reason etc..

cool

I've seen Koneveljet play live on 2 laptops with Reason running on both of them. This was done with MIDI sync ofcourse (the other machine as slave and the other as master). Worked like hell. I see no reason why you couldn't play live with it... about the headphones preview, I don't think Reason has that option. Playing live with only one machine might be a bit difficult. So if you have a soundcard and drivers which support multiple outputs or one output + headphones try using something like the Ableton Live as suggested above...

Reason does have the capability to "preview" what's going on in the headphones... if you have the hardware to support it. Since Reason's hardware interface (at the top of every open instrument bank window) has 64 outs, if you have a multi channel audio card in your computer, you can open 2 different songs in reason, and assign each to different hardware outputs. Then you plug the physical cables into 2 different channels on a DJ mixer, and mix as you would with a CDJ or Turntables. Thus, you can "preview" one track in the headphones, and beatmatch the two tracks by speeding up or slowing down the BPMs then bringing them back into alignment, and finally crossfade over. This allows you to play live with only one machine and just Reason quite easily -- if you've got the multiple outputs and some kind of hardware mixer to mix the 2 songs.

If you have a midi controller, you can do a lot of other on-the-fly tweaks to your song as it plays as well, like muting drum parts, tweaking reason's knobs, etc.

Reason audio hardware interface SUCKS! No MIDI output is also a pain in the ass...

Try this:

get a two stereo channels audio interface (one to phones, one to PA)

rewire it to Cubase

set the Cubase busses, one to PA out, one to PFL out

is you want to hear PFL, set the bus in the Rewire channel

if you don't want to get a four channel audio card, set L channel to PFL and R channel to PA. Mono mix live PA... better than nothing...
